Muses: The Serenade of Water

Description

Third in the 'Temple Muse' series inspited by Zelda: Ocarina of Time (just in case ya haven't caught on yet ~_^)

First and foremost, I didn't think I was ever gonna finish this. Whereas the first two in the 'series' took about three hours, this one took three DAYS. Since the original plan was to work on the muses at night and other art during the day, you can imagine how behind I am on all the holiday gift art I've promised >.< (Keem, yours is almost done  )

Onto the dorky stuff. This is by far the most...detailed Muse so far. I had to seriously fight the urge to give either of the first two ridiculously long hair, but I forced myself to save it for the Water girl since, ya know, that makes sense. Pretty much every aspect of her represents the element of Water, and the repeating 'snow-flake' design throughout the outfit is the Water symbol from it's respective Medallion. Although I tried to stay away from any 'ice' references, I did throw in a few since you
learn the Serenade of Water in the Ice Caverns. I also tried to stay away from white on blue, and instead used as many different shades of blue and teal that I could stand to look at.

The definition of a serenade is very vague, the most commonly recognized being that of the verb; i.e. when one is "serenaded". But for the piece as a whole, a serenade is an emotion filled instrumental piece that's short, sweet and to the point. However, the Serenade of Water seems so... sad. Not sad as in great tragedy, but rather a gentle lament. Out of all the music in the game, this one will always remain my favorite. Especially the scene where Sheik teaches the melody and all other sounds vanish save the harp he plays. So beautiful. Therefore, I tried to convey some of those meloncholy in her expression.

And following the weapons trend, you'll notice that draped across her elbows is none other than the HookShot, absolutely vital to navigating the labyrinth-like, three-story Water Temple, as well as fighting Morpha at the end of it.

This concludes the first half of the series, the Stable Elements (Forest, Fire, Water) and begins the Etheral half (Shadow, Spirit, Light). I didn't think I'd finish the picture tonight, but in lew of recent events, I needed something completely unrelated to my personal life to indulge in. The sheer amount of detail blows my mind, especially if you'll note that as oppsosed to say, the Bolero of Fire, this picture covers about 90% of the canvas, not 20%.

Done in Photoshop. Background from stock. Off to pass the fuck out.

Next: The Nocturne of Shadow!

you must be very patient to work on something for 3 days but the pics shows off you dedication. its very good. the song was ok but the temple was very slow and tedious for me. only the boss fight and the Dark link fight made it interesting in my opinion. you were right though that is some insanely long hair and a whole lot of blue. have to say once again you did really good on this one
